I wish he were still around and if you studied with this guy, you were so blessed. I wasn’t. His writings are so encouraging for anyone who wants to go into academic science and comes from a non-academic (plain) background and has doubts.

He could “never carry a tune” so he played the bongo.

Also, “jiggling atoms”, the essence of the microwave. It’s a machine that makes the atoms jiggle. And the bicycle pump, that’s the essence of a fridge.
