There’s this ad on YouTube for an IT company. Employees are featured. Every single one of them is dressed in drab olive green. Doesn’t appeal to me. Maybe they want to emphasize “we don’t care what you look like, we’re interested in your brain”, however. Who knows.
On the other hand, decades ago, there was this IT company that portrayed itself as very different. It sounded so exciting. I applied. I got invited for an interview. The company turned out to be drab and dull and ordinary…
I’ve temped at a few others, one even twice. Only one of those times was in an IT role (and that role I quit even though they wanted me to stay on and I did like it there, but I was looking for something in my own field). Unisys? Run away as fast as you can. Verity? Grrrreat! (Hugo Sluimer’s team) Ideta? Very doable, very hands on and very enjoyable! (Of course, this was years ago.)
Oh! I still have Verity’s linen bag! Imagine that!

That was search agents, btw. (No, not recruitment.) Most members of the public had never heard of Verity, yet Verity was part of a lot of stuff. So much stuff! Most people had no idea. This link is about using Verity in SAP but Verity was in my own computer, too. https://infocenter.sybase.com/help/index.jsp?topic=/com.sybase.dc36521_1251/html/verity/verity209.htm
Maybe I should get back into a IT role. I’ve kinda soured on humans, after all. That said, I find what I am seeing in AI pretty disappointing so far, although that’s mostly about chatgpt and chatbots in customer relations. (I looked into AI in the early 1980s. It was hot then too, but cooled down shortly after.)
There’s only so much abuse you can take before you say “Sod it, I’ve had enough of humans”. Continued digital abuse doesn’t make me friendlier. It makes me angrier. How dare you. Why don’t you just euthanize me if you don’t want me to live my life, you Andrew Tate wannabe bullies out there? You’re relentlessly abusive.
As long as my Monday mornings are still the time when the hacking is most abusive, I probably shouldn’t make any appointments on Mondays because the hacking interference makes me want to chew people’s heads off. 😡😠😤
That said, anger is better than fear. The destructive potential of hacking interference is so terrifying. It makes me feel so deflated. So gutted. So depressed, so defeated. The hacking is so so so so nasty. It’s nasty and that is all it is. Just terribly nasty and destructive and abusive and controlling, nothing else. I still can’t do a goddamn thing. I might as well have stayed stuck in my little prison in Portsmouth and not have made the sacrifice I made.
Never mind.
