“Immigration is not the problem” says right-wing think tank (UK)

“Immigration is not the problem.”

That says even the supposedly right-wing think tank that calls itself the Institute of Economic Affairs.

Below is part of the email that it sent under that heading today.

Most of you have no idea what it is like to be a migrant in a country where top politicians persistently publicly vilify migrants. You have no idea what it felt like to hear people during that debate on Friday evening say that people like me are the cause of everything that is wrong in the UK (because so many people believe that when it’s said by what they consider experts) and then thankfully hear others counter that.

Migrants, that includes Jenny from Invercargill on the South Island in New Zealand and Luis from Portugal. (For those who don’t know that, these are two of the people – NHS staff – who helped save Boris Johnson’s life after he had first been mocking other countries because of the measures they were taking, suggesting that the English were stronger people and would not succumb to a virus, through sheer willpower and boasting about how he went around shaking the hands of Covid patients in hospitals, not wearing gloves, not wearing a mask.)
