EDL-style troublemakers at it again? Also in Portsmouth…

Violent clashes… but none in Portsmouth https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/article/2024/aug/03/government-warns-that-rioters-will-pay-the-price-as-wave-of-violence-sweeps-uk

😊

There was a very small police presence only, in Portsmouth. There were verbal exchanges, and some apparently were ugly, but there was nothing else. Fairly peaceful, all in all.

7 August 2024: Oh! Looks like the current city council leader and I appear to be on the same page! (Or have I been led onto another goddamn a fake page on another goddamn mirror on that Portsmouth-based hacker’s computer once again?)

What happened in Southport is like what happened on a tram in Utrecht, the Netherlands, a few years ago. At the time, the BBC – regrettably – was quick to write about links to islamic terrorism but there were none. This was like a guy shouting that he wanted to defend the planet against unicorns from Mars while unfortunately shooting people at the same time.

Hopefully we’ve seen the last of these protests now, whipped up by stupid trolls and such. What happened in Southport had nothing to do with migrants (people like me), no matter what Donna Jones says. (Then again, the Portsmouth Lib Dems probably hate people like me even more. 😎😂)(A big problem with the Lib Dems who are in charge, at least in Portsmouth, is that they are stuck in their ivory towers. They have no idea what half of the town is really like and what the people who don’t vote want and need.)

My recommendation for how to deal with them? Scroll down.

Why this sudden flare-up? Yes, I’m aware of the tragedy, but why respond to it with violence? This has nothing to do with what happened in Southport. Besides, what happened in Southport has nothing to do with places like Portsmouth and Bristol. These protests are a kick in the face of people who are hurting because of the tragedy in Southport.

I’ve read that Starmer refrained from pointing the finger at the MP of Clacton. What has he been up to again? And why did Starmer decide to stay quiet? Because he didn’t want to give that MP for Clacton a platform, I presume.

I did a search.

Looks like he’s up to his ears in whipping up conspiracy theories again just to divide the country and cause trouble.

If all people who are not EDL make a wall against – and reach out to – these unfortunate, vulnerable and insecure pawns of the MP for Clacton and social media trolls, it will become clear what’s really happening in the country as opposed to what the MP for Clacton says is happening.

My recommendation

Give them sandwiches and ice-cream, or chips. See what happens when they encounter the opposite of what they expect.

Keep the cops with the riot shields at hand and in sight too. But not at the front. That’s what they expect. Break their expectations and overwhelm them with very different feelings.

Don’t try to reason with them or accuse them. Just break their expectations and change how they are feeling.

This is how rhetoric works too. It’s so powerful because it evokes a strong emotional response and that gets cemented in the brain. So if you want to change that, you have to keep overwhelming them with the opposite emotions. Turn fear and anger into gratitude and a sense of belonging.

Or, as Seth Godin writes in “This is Marketing”: Learn to see them.

Boost their oxytocin levels.

(Naive? Maybe. Maybe not.)

This reminds me that the MP for Clacton also has been standing up for a notorious promoter of violence against and abuse of women (Andrew Tate). What is his position on issues like gay marriage?

PS Even if it turns into a food fight, that would still be far better. 😂

16:44 Portsmouth time, so far so good:
