Sigh. Where did this come from?
Happy now?
People, where have you been? Have you been hiding? In your big houses?
People, after the rain, will your life, will it ever be the same?

People, after the rain, will your life, will it ever be the same?

I’ve encountered them in the early 80s, when they checked in at my place of work because they were playing North Sea Jazz. But all I remember is that I explained to a colleague who they were. There were no interesting interactions. I don’t remember specifics, but I now wonder if it may have been crew… I don’t think so. Because others stayed too. They were barely noticeable, didn’t draw attention.

I assume that there is quite a bit of improv going on there. This is for example quite an interesting rendition of Koto Song. But that reverb suggests otherwise.

Names like Archie Shepp and Gerry Mulligan meant nothing to me back then, but Stan Getz and Dave Brubeck and Chet Baker and Dizzy Gillespie and Miles Davis were names I recognised. I’ve meanwhile heard Archie Shepp play in London.
