Stuff has changed on my computer. That’s the sense I got yesterday, at some point at the end of the day, though I couldn’t put my finger on what was different and I didn’t dwell on it.
I did later see that I seemed to have two different copies of Chrome (or of my alternative gmail address in Chrome, by the looks of it, with different “send to” addresses available) running at the same time at one point. It struck me as odd. I’d never seen anything like it before. (Update: I think that that was just another stupid Google Workspace thing.)
Now, I for example see that Firefox suddenly has ads. (It used to in the past.) There was no update.

The computer is running very stably too, with none of the usual incessant rattling of the HDD, for example.
I seem to be on a Dutch server, too, no longer on a server in Malta.
8:31 am: I spoke too soon. When I opened that same Gmail again, and wanted to move three mails into a folder, the computer froze and the HDD started rattling incessantly. Need to reboot.
09:04 am: Yes, there seems to be an issue with Chrome and that Gmail account Gmail or Google in general, but things seem okay again. I’ll probably avoid Gmail for a while. (It doesn’t seem to like it when I open different programs first, but I don’t like that it uses so many resources, so I only open it when I need it.)
