One of the biggest weaknesses of the human species is its arrogance, its belief that it’s the only intelligent being on the planet. This particularly goes for neurotypical people, I bet.

Now AI is getting the better of us too. The AI giants are investigating tens of thousands of incidents with disobedient AI agents, the Dutch Financial Times headlined just now.

Did I mention that I considered studying computer science and going into the first AI wave before I decided to go into earth sciences? The reason I didn’t was that I found it too limited, too one-dimensional. I opted for something much more multidisciplinary.

I’m concerned. In many countries, people’s abilities are now declining and many countries seem to be in a mess, one way or a other.

Interacting with ChatGPT is increasingly like interacting with an increasingly stupid human being. I initially enjoyed ChatGPT. It’s increasingly not only annoying me with its useless suggestions but it’s also increasingly arrogant and patronising.

Editing anything online used to be straightforward. Now, merely moving the cursor one or two positions often takes several clicks. So does inserting a missing letter into a word, too often.
