Observations

Blatant povertyism becomes clear when you replace words like “poor” or “homeless” or “sleeper” (the Dutch police term for homeless person) in the remarks that people make. Would they dare say the same about people who for example are “black”, “deaf” or “gay”?

Having aggressive or extremely noticeable (intrusive) security staff not only can suggest that a place is unsafe even when in fact it’s super safe, it can trigger irritation and aggression.

Batons signal “I don’t want to listen to you. You’re in danger. Fight for your life.” They prevent dialogue and deescalation.

It’s unfair to pay young people lower salaries and benefits. Their rent, utilities and groceries cost the same as for everyone else.
